Limitless Current Advertising - Research

Viral NZT Campaign

There was a bit of a whispering campaign surrounding limitless when it came out. The advertisers came up with a few crafty solutions to create a buzz around the film. Which has inspired us to come up with our own campaign around college. We obviously cant produce anything on this scale but there is definitly room for experimentation. The concept is fun and creative and different from all the other standard adverts you see for other films. 

Infomercial

One of the main adverts they came up with was an infomercial which markets the drug as an actual consumer pharmaceutical up for grabs. Explainng how good the drug is and what the effects are, along with the extreme side effects which makes it clearly obvious this a hoax, but needless to say it definitely grabs the viewers attention to begin with. This is a really clever way to market to the public, this video wen t viral and features on the made up website created specifically to create a buzz for the movie.

Viral Phone Hack Video

Another viral video which surfaced was the one above which shows a guy claiming to of built a video transmitter to plug into your phone which allows you to transmit the content of the phone onto any screen. This is set in times square where many of the scenes in the film are based. The man in the video claims to have built the device on NZT. This is also clearly part of the campaign as the limitless trailer is playing on one of the films. This hit it big on the web creating lots of talk around the film.

There was also a made up website built for the films advertising which is basically a pharmacutical website which everyone is used to seeing in pop ups. This tells you about the effects of the drug and the side effects with quirky little extras on the sight. I really like the idea of this campaign as it is unique and different to your standard adverts.

Movie Posters

Tube Campaign

 Its advertising a film called Limitless which was released on March 23th in the UK. If you visit theclearpill.com you firstly get to watch an infomercial about the clear pill and then after the video you are left with a website about the faux product. The film is imbedded after the break. Stars of the film include Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, and Robert De Niro and it’s directed by Neil Burger and based on a book called The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn.
