Initial Plan
Our original plan was to do a film week showcasing different movies throughout the week, however due to time and money it would take too long and cost far too much to produce all the promotional items needed to accommodate the audience. With this in mind we narrowed it down to producing work for just 1 film, this way we could but more attention and focus into the project. We first of all decided to look at Horror movies as this was the initial Idea. We spent a few evenings watching various movies in order to try and pick something which we believe others may be interested in seeing. We wanted something that was well known enough for people to be enthused but not too over played. We also didnt want anything too corny or shit as horrors arnet everyones cup of tea.
We narrowed it down to:
The Evil Dead
Dawn of the Dead
From Dusk til Dawn
Natural Born Killers
Clock Work Orange
From this List we decided to go with From Dusk til Dawn, as we believed it would be more enjoyable for a wider audience as it is a borderline horror comedy directed by a well known and respected director, Robert Rodriguez, it is the story of 2 brothers on the run from the police making their way from America to Mexico to finish off a massive deal which will sort them out for life, unfortunately they have to wait for the other partner in a vampire infested topless bar, and as you can imagine all doesn't go to plan. This is an awesome film with some really great visual references which we could work with to produce interesting branding around college. We also thought that this is a film that people may of heard of but not had the chance to see. They have recently made a tv series based around the film which also would help to increase the knowledge of the film to others.
Film Notes / Ideas
We sat down and made notes throughout the film with interesting visual aids we could work with and also quotes and scenes which reflect the movie well. We want to create 3D interactive elements to place around college which will hopefully intrigue students more than the posters you see around college.
One of the main things we noticed throughout the film was neon signage which kept cropping up throughout each of the scenes which helps to paint a picture of the journey of 2 brothers. We thought this was an interesting route to go down and we could play on this signage around college to create interest for the film night.
